A3 - Rock'n'Roll uzvraca udarac (2006) Reviews
This isn't a comedy
I have not seen the first one yet, but I watched the second and I enjoyed that. I took the liberty of watching this. Well, where are the laughs? I understand that people may not have liked the second because it is a sequel. Maybe it will happen to me when I see We are not angels 1. Anyway, this one is more to do with music, but the film is quite boring and without much humour at all really. I think Srdjan Dragojevic is a great writer, but he disappointed me with this. It shows the typical story of the angel and the devil but they are not interesting because they ARE NOT FUNNY. That goes for the rest of the characters. This film better hope I do not give it a one after watching the first. The only reason I do not give it a one though, is because of the beautiful visuals this film has with lighting and cinematography. However, that is not enough to like this garbage. If it had some funny moments I could at least respect it, but sadly no. I cannot stop you from watching this, but remember: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Down with the West !
For the record, I watched this movie only because my whole family was watching it on Christmass Eve. After watching whole movie I got stuck with feeling that this movie could be really good movie if the crew sticked to the basic story in the script. This story was when fallen rock singer, who sold his soul to the devil and made huge success in folk music, gets his body switched with young boy who is struggling with his band to make it on rock scene. The idea was good, getting back to the roots for the folk star and showing young boy the other real side of the fame and glory. This could made a good movie, not a classic as the first part of "trilogy" but decent, enjoyable movie, but NO everything in Serbia has to fall to the trends, starting with film-making. The movie is packed with commercials for this and that, high school is made to look like American, bunch of crap was shoved in movie (like Chinese trade centers, DJ Krmak etc). Some actors gave good performance, others succeeded only to irritate and lure the curses from audience. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone except those who enjoy typical brainless "entratainment" filled with latest hypes and popular actors. I'm left with painful feeling that this could be good movie and hoping that the original would combust and all copies will be destroyed.
great,great,great!
I saw first two parts, and second one was big disappointment (it looked like wanna be Hollywood teen comedy) first one is legendary. Now i went to the cinema, with my girlfriend and popcorn's, expecting nothing. But after first ten minutes I realized that R'N'R strikes back really strikes back. The film was something completely different. Darker, more mature comedy with really nice photography and production design. Something not common for this part of the world. Really phenomenal. The other great thing is music. Very nice movie themes, that could be real hits. And also very well incorporated in the movie, makes you urge for more. Directors style is modern. Looks kinda commercial/music video, addict to me. Which is great, he moved one step forward from all other directors in this parts. I can't wait to see his next movie. Finally somebody that pays attention at all aspects ( actors,photography,music,story... ) in his work. Great actors, great roles. Great movie. Bravo for those who were brave to produce it.
Enough. Seriously.
I really mean it when I say "Enough!" Enough with bashing the legacy of the first part... The Second Part (MNA2) was a major disappointment, so I was pretty much skeptic about the sequel. Obviously so were the producers because this movie was released on DVD really soon after the movie premiere in theaters all over Serbia. So, if you want to watch it anyway, here's what you should know. Forget the first two movies. Forget Nikola, forget Marina, forget their daughter (MNA2 was quite impressionable, but I cannot remember the girl's name... of course, I am being sarcastic.) Now, this is a story about two guys, Dorijan, a famous folk superstar, and Marko, frontman of an underdog rock band. In the course of film, each one of them will walk in other one's shoes. And as for the elements of the movie, here's what I think: music is quite pretentious, especially Dorijan's songs. I mean, I know this is supposed to be a comedy, but you gotta have at least some credibility. On the other side, photography is modern and directing is quite good. Unfortunately, there's not much a director could do with such a crappy screenplay. To sum it up, we have a bad plot and above-the-average directing. Soundtrack is kinda pathetic. Acting is OK. Could be better though. Reasons why I gave it 4 out of 10? First of all, because of the idea to invite some of the ex-Yu celebs to participate in it. It was fun to watch Petar Graso, Let 3 and Seka Aleksic. Final note to the makers of MNA3... If you are thinking of making MNA4... Don't.
Disappointing
First installment of "Mi nismo andjeli" is one of my all time favourite films. I've been raving about it from the first day I saw it in 1993 to this day! Second installment was still entertaining and original, even if quite different from the first. This, the third film, left me disappointed. I am not a film critic and I am sure this film will appeal to many. Some of the jokes are quite entertaining and the story stands on its own. But I am nostalgic for the originality that the first film had which wasn't repeated in the third. I don't know if Srdjan was the one directing it whether it would have been any different. I recommend seeing all three films and coming to your own conclusions.
