Let Go and You'll Lose Him!
I got this DVD because one of my favorite actors, Rolf Saxon, had a role in the film. He was truly miscast and could have had a better and bigger role. The story of August Falls is about a young adult in Northern California (they never say the actual location) who falls from the building. The mother played beautifully by Fairuza Balk comes to town. She and her son have been estranged. Anyway, she forms a friendship with the apartment building caretaker, Jonas. She doesn't believe her son committed suicide and was murdered. Sadly, the film has several problems about the storyline. There are too many red herrings. She gets kidnapped and scared by two thugs (Rolf Saxon played one).. Saxon would have been better utilized as a stepfather father figure to August. I would have liked to have seen more of hiim in the film. Anyway the ending is a letdown and the film never makes sense to me. Was there a murder instead of a suicide or a terrible accident? August was bisexual and left behind many friends. Balk and Baker have done terrific jobs in their performances as Anna and Jonas. Still the film left me hanging and I wanted a resolution.
