I started laughing the second I saw the Box and continued to laugh for nearly the entire 87 minutes of the movie. 'Bad Guy' follows along as two cousins and suspended 'good guy' cops Dave Adkins (Jolly) and Skip Jackson (Baldwin) attempt to first get real jobs and then become big time wrestlers. Along the way Skip, the wild one, manages to continually get them into trouble starting with their suspension from the force. When sports reporter Janice Edwards (Michelle Nicastro) arranges for shady but serious big time manager Lord Percy Babington (James Booth) to view their match with The Kremlin Krushers (Alexi Smirnoff & Jay S. York) and Percy decides to go with the Krushers all bets are off and it's time for these 'good guy' to become 'Bad guys'. Enter Terrible Turk McGurk (Gene Le Bell) and his Lady wife Petal McGurk (Ruth Buzzi), Bad Guy markers extrodinar. Using all their talents these two attempt to turn Skip and Dave into the best bad guys in Wrestling history in time for the Tag-team world championship match with the Krushers. Of course, everything goes anything but smooth. The plot is corny, the acting over the top, and the music is decidedly 80's. That said, this movie is just pure unadulterated FUN, FUN, FUN! The wrestling scenes and training montages are a entertaining riot. The Striping scene in worth the price of 'admission'. The scene in the costume shop needed to be longer and a Blonde Adam is absolutely priceless! And did I mention Sgt. Slaughter & Professor Toru Tanaka? With great lines like: "OH MY GOD THERE GOES THE REF!" "Merciful father in Heaven" "Take my pants off again and I'll kill you." "Thanks Skip, first you get me suspended, then you get me to do a strip tease and then you rip off my pants and now I'm up here stuck in the middle of nowhere!" "Huh, never knew dancing could be so dangerous" "Yeah, no more fat old women in convertibles" and "We gotta save him. To the ropes!" The cheese factor is 10 and you will want to watch it again! Any who haven't seen this one yet...it is a MUST see!

  • Good Natured Fun

This came out when the Wrestlemania craze was taking hold. It's a low budget comedy about two dopey cops (Baldwin and Jolly) who get suspended from the job and decide to take jobs as wrestlers to pay the bills. Adam Baldwin is a good actor and though the film is beneath him, it's nice to see him in a lead role. The wrestling scenes aren't that impressive but the film moves along quickly and contains some decent laughs. Michelle Nicastaro is appealing eye candy as the love interest whom both the guys take a shine to. The film is also an amusing time capsule for those who grew up in the 80s. If you're willing to put your brain on hold, check it out!

"Bad Guys" is a good film about two cops who find themselves at the center of attention (and attraction) as big-time wrestlers. Before that is an almost completely different story. Skip Jackson (Adam Baldwin) and Dave Adkins (Mike Jolly) are cousins who are also cops in Los Angeles. Dave stays in shape by moonlighting as a wrestler in local gigs. On one such occasion, an attractive sports reporter named Janice Edwards (Michelle Nicastro) takes a liking to both Dave and his cousin Skip, who proposes the idea of them becoming professional wrestlers. Fun-loving Skip likes the idea, but straight-laced Dave is not sold on the idea. A little coaxing and pretty soon Dave accepts the offer. Having to report back to duty as cops, they are summoned to break up a melee at a bar, but things take a turn for the worse as Dave and Skip find themselves kicking serious ass with the miscreants. As a result, both men lose their badges. Now having to contend with doing civilian work, they must find a way to make a living. Dave's idea of doing construction work goes belly-up when Skip gets it on in the trailer at a construction site with a Gal Friday of sorts. Skip then suggests they become male strippers. In what is truly one of the film's highlights, both Skip and Dave bare their all for a rousing group of hot and bothered ladies. Skip has a very nice body when he sheds the pants, and soaks in all the fun on the stage, but that can't beat Dave's athletic build accentuated with an amazing pair of thighs and legs! (Sigh...) Fully or barely-clothed, Dave Adkins is a very hot man! :-) Alas; all good things must come to an end, for Dave vows he will never strip again. So it's back to the drawing board for our heroes. Janice is convinced that Skip and Dave should strongly consider wrestling for a living, and is determined to make them stars. After an inauspicious match, they are sent to Terrible Turk McGurk (Gene LeBell) and his wife, Petal (Ruth Buzzi). The McGurk's are determined to make "bad guys" out of naturally good guys Skip and Dave come hell or high water. After putting them through as much physical torture as they can take, they are put on the firing line against a pair of Russian baddies, the Kremlin Krushers. Sadly, our (Boston) Bad Guys (as they are now called) get their arses ripped out, but are still determined to show the wrestling world what they're made of. Trouble, however, loomed on the horizon. Both Skip and Dave had eyes for Janice, and Skip (ever the romeo) asked Janice out on a date. Then Dave asked her out on a date as well. Janice decided to make it a threesome (unbeknownst to them) at a local swank restaurant. When Skip and Dave met eye-to-eye at the restaurant, it looked as though these cousins would be duking it out for real. But Janice insisted on dining with both of them, and helped calm the waters (at least for that moment). Restaurant incident aside, Skip and Dave were all set to fight the Kremlin Krushers at the local arena when the baddies who instigated the fight at the bar (causing Skip and Dave to get fired as policemen) saw them on the road and snuck up behind them, managing to psyche them out and getting revenge by hanging them upside down in a warehouse. But the police, having a change of heart regarding Skip and Dave, came to the rescue as they surrounded the villains. Already nearly a half-hour late for the match, a forfeit seemed likely but in the nick of time, the Bad Guys prevailed! Truly a match for the ages, the All-American Bad Guys took on the hated Kremlin Krushers in front of a psyched audience, which included real-life wrestler Sgt. Slaughter. The Krushers' cheap tricks and antics, in which they pounded on poor Dave and Skip, was thankfully short-lived. Although it seemed the audience (including Sgt. Slaughter) was doing most of the fighting at one point, the Bad Guys managed to flex their muscles and bodies in the end and dominate over the Krushes to take the title and score a big victory for America. The police gave Skip and Dave back their badges and wanted them to report back for duty, but it was apparent that Skip wanted to remain a wrestler. Whether they stayed in the ring or wore the badge we'll never know, but Skip and Dave rewarded Janice at the film's conclusion with a kiss. "Bad Guys" was a fun movie and a pleasant trip back to the mid '80s, when the film was made and released. Viewers may be surprised to see a bleached blond Adam Baldwin in this movie, but his performance as fearless extrovert Skip Jackson was a delight and a far cry from his role as feared, misunderstood Ricky Linderman from 1980's "My Bodyguard". Mike Jolly, who played mild-mannered Dave Adkins, was also a pleasure to watch; '80s film fans may know him as Craig Mattey from 1987's "Three O'Clock High"--the handsome jock who unfortunately got his finger broken and nose bashed by misfit Buddy Revell--and as Earl Skinner from "Fatal Beauty" (also from 1987, acting alongside Brad Dourif--Chucky from "Child's Play"). "Bad Guys" is a film you can watch over and over and not get tired of; if there's ever a night when you want to take a trip back to the mid '80s and forget about reality, pop this movie in the VCR and enjoy!
