wow
I just threw this movie on for some background noise and it blew me away. Was not expecting that at all. By the end of the movie I felt sad and happy and confused and fullfilled and blown away all at once. Nicely done 7.8
Surprisingly well done............
This movie is not necessarily anything very original in story, a couple haunted by a tragedy in their life, but what puts it above average is that on every level it is masterfully done. Melissa George stars with Stephen Dorff (kind of the very poor man's Ethan Hawke) and they are both exceptional in their roles as is every supporting actor. Ireland and the cinematography are gorgeous, the movie moves along and sweeps you up in it's story and although the outcome is not hard to guess at, it is still haunting. Well worth watching for being interesting , Stephen's outstanding performance as a tortured soul and for being so beautifully directed and expertly shot.
Nicely done!
A very good mystery, with lots of twists and turns until the end when the rest of the movie's plot seems to make sense after all. Solid performances by Dorff and George.
A gem of a movie made in the west of Ireland
I was fortunate enough to watch Don't Go at the Galway Film Fleadh. Our home is quite close to where it was made so I was curious to see it. As the opening credits rolled, you got the sense you were in for something special, especially when I saw Ferry Corsten composed the soundtrack and it has a wonderfully atmospheric score. The lead actors were all very strong in their roles, the 3 main characters each dealing, and struggling to deal with the tragic event that is at the heart of the story. Melissa George is particularly impressive in the role of the mother who is trying to move on with her life and with her husband. It was interesting to read that she had a short window to film her scenes as she brings a certain calmness to the role of what must be every parents nightmare. At no stage does her portrayal feel rushed. Stephen Dorff was excellent as the father who is perhaps unable to come to terms with what happened and literally dreams of being able to save his daughter. The Irish actress Aoibhinn McGinnity is very strong as the friend who is perhaps struggling the most and Simon Delaney brings a lovely dose of Irish wit to his scenes, many of which he steals. The plot has a supernatural element to it and that drives the movie along at an engaging pace. It is a beautifully shot movie and well worth a look. I loved one of the final scenes where the camera pans through the mothers flowing blonde hair to the seascape she is pondering.
Glad I Checked It Out
A father struggling with the death of his young daughter begins to believe he can change the past by a memory that becomes a reoccurring dream. Is it possible or is he simply losing his mind. This film was decent. The actors played their characters with a lot of sincerity and the story was relatable. It felt a little slow at times and it would have been better with more depth invested into the individual characters and the way they interacted with one another. It's nothing that will blow you away but it was an entertaining watch.
