Decent fights, and that's it
Indie martial arts movies tend to be hit or miss affairs. Most are completely dreadful, unwatchably so. Some are semi-decent and only a very few actually stand as watchable films in their own right. DOUBLE TAP lands somewhere middle of the field, with some surprisingly decent and well-choreographed fight sequences held within a plot which is strictly pedestrian and downright dull. A couple of familiar faces (Richard Tyson and Robert LaSardo) show up for minor appearances, but for most of the running time the viewer is stuck with the gruff and hulking Fabian Carrillo, who kicks and thumps his way through nuggets of plot. The first scenes are worth a look, but you'd do well to fast forward the rest.
