Tackles the Tough Issues
This play is inspirational and truthful. The director does a masterful job at incorporating tough, real life, everyday issues that families go through. This film is funny, thoughtful, and entertaining. It reflects the contemporary dynamics of the Black-American family and the issues they face. This is a "must-see" play. This play attempts to answer some of the many problems afflicting the Black-American families. It is written from a spiritual point of view. However, one does not have to be religious to appreciate the honesty that this play brings. I would love to see this in person. Although there is not an all around star- studded cast, the well known actor actress is Clifton Powell (Dead Presidents,Norbit, Ray) and Robin Givens (Boomerang, A Rage in Harlem, The Women of Brewster Place) are largely providing support roles while the less known actors and actress take center stage.
Great movie! Very Spiritually uplifting.
I really enjoyed this movie. The acting is fair given these are new actors, the only known actress was Robin Givens. I loved the story and the message was empowering! I felt very uplifted after watching this. I was also impressed with the Director Embree Perry. Great family movie. Subject matter might be much for adolescents though. Teenage pregnancy, and the protagonist is a known fornicator who has lost her way with God. I would suggest maybe 15 years old at least to watch. I also enjoyed the spiritual themes and the singing done by the actors was very enjoyable and moving. I would definitely recommend this movie to Christians. If you are feeling downhearted and depressed this movie might just be the movie to lift your spirits!
