• Heartbreaking film about overcoming inner pain and moving forward

  I found the film very moving and very beautiful. The film beautifully displays the hardships of an adolescence in a broken family. The pain and blame that comes with divorce can be devastating. Throughout the movie the main character learns to cope with her trauma and grow as a person. It was very sweet and very creative. The animation is beautiful and the movie overall has a fairy tale-like quality although the story is a slice of life anime genre. The power of words and song ring through the movie.I enjoyed it very much. (Although I wrote that this review contains spoilers I tried to keep them to the absolute minimum so that it doesn't give anything away).

• a taste of spicy sweet twist

  When I first saw the title, I have to admit that I had no expectations. Simply because I couldn't read Japanese. However, as a film- enthusiast I'm always the type who would want to venture and explore new films. At the moment, I don't have anything to compare this movie at all. It isn't because I haven't watched enough but rather because its the first kind of animation or story line that I've encountered to be told in such a way. I mean, despite the fairy-tale type introduction. The vibe of the story having a hint of psychological approach was there. Yet, it did not sound or feel grim at all. It felt realistic and true. While others may protest that there are no bad parents, I want to state that there really are. No one is perfect, and Parents are not an exception. There are people, heartless enough to blame there kids for their own faults. As a fan of Makoto Shinkai films, I am pleased to find another film maker and storyteller to root for from this point onward. I love the twist of the ending as well. If you don't pay attention of the story and feel like over running the movie with what you perceive you'd definitely miss out the biggest surprise of all. I say big because normally lead characters would often fall for each other. However, in this story. Both don't get their happy endings yet, there is that welcome resolve where you can root for them further. I'm rating this 9 because, I wish to see more. Then again, if I could be more true. It would be a perfect 10. Amazing use of classical music and play script.

• Enchanting!

  First, to say,I wanted to give it a 10 star, but I am that kind of person who want an ending as the way I want it to be.So here I go, The story started with some castle stuff, so I thought "wohhh, same old snow white or Cinderella or whatever story may be the base of it", but thank God, this movie didn't waste my two hour! :vAnd those who said this series as a same old teen drama,"Guys!seriously?"(However, it doesn't mean that you hated something so I can't love it, right?) Dear June, I know it was hard to witness parent causing adultery in that age!Though you never knew what was going one.But I would like to take your father as the evil one.How dare was he to say something like that to his own daughter!(Let's not use any slang,okey?).... And your mother, Her tears didn't affect me at all, she deserved it, never mind! Here your world of silence was depicted as a dark world where you have unlimited words which were actually like knives! Trust me! I am like you in this sense! Whenever I open my mouth, here comes trouble! Well, I chose to be silent cause it was who I am! Lastly, to say, I got a huge crush on Takumi.I thought he would be a real guy for you!But the end of the day, he rejected you!So, he is out my list now! However, I can't blame him for this, as emotions are weird stuffs! One sided love are always hurtful, I wonder. Words are sometimes painful but keeping them inside are more hurtful.I know that. • A quadrangular high school love story!

  The first mistake we all make is to expect it to match with the type of films what Isao Takahata, Hayao Miyazaki, Mamoru Hosada and few others direct. I meant thematically; either sci-fi, fantasy or the drama with the teen or the tween characters in the lead. Because technically this was a wonderful animation, but I was not impressed with the story, otherwise as usual, my writing would have been very long with the film quotes and other discussions. For the beautifully sketched characters like this, the film totally wasted an opportunity. Should have been a beautiful love story or a pure fantasy, but it was a bit of uninspiring school drama that I kind frequently lost interest while watching. I remind who wanted to watch it that it was a simple story which was like some kind of a television episode. The fantasy parts were too small to notice and the love story was very boring to emotionally feel it. It might suit for those who're seeking matured contents in an anime fantasy-romance than a cute and quirky narration. My point is it is for adults than children. Overall, it failed to reach my expectations, but the online film rating says many has liked it. So don't mind me if you're considering it, but my review causing confusion. Because you should not have to feel what I felt, everything I said in the review is from my personal viewpoint. So I believe your opinion might differ from mine. 5/10

• Good slow pacing anime film

  I really liked the film, even if it was slow paced. The Japanese voice actors had good singing voices such as Inori Minase as Jun. i loved when her character belted out a song at the best end of the film, it gave you such goosebumps and the fact her character came out of her shell to speak! I mean for a girl who had a selfish father and a selfish Prince egg who took her voice ( like Disney's Little Mermaid), she really fought both back in the end! Also I can see from some of the other reviews here that they didn't like the couple matching (Takumi x Natsuki & Daiki x Jun). However it was actually a nice surprise in my personal opinion cause I didn't mind who was matched with whom! It's even a nice change like you hardly get to see a sweet girl who goes out with a delinquent in anime. I'm sure there's some but I'll just have to research more hehe! Good movie, definitely watch if you don't mind it's slow pacing and of course if you wanna hear nice music too ^^
