The quiet, affluent suburb of Delmar, New York, was considered anything but dangerous...until 21-year-old Chris Porco was accused of brutally murdering his father Peter and disfiguring his mother Joan in a savage ax attack, a claim made all the more shocking when the case's lead detective Joe Sullivan believed Joan had identified Chris as her attacker. Weeks after the crime, however, Joan would refute Detective Sullivan's story, while the town of Delmar and many of Chris' former friends and girlfriends would also rally to his defense, despite Sullivan's fierce mission to prove his guilt. Prosecutors believed that beneath Chris' picture-perfect facade was a greedy and cunning sociopath who would stop at nothing to keep his lies hidden. In the end, he was convicted of second-degree murder of his father, but many in the town of Delmar firmly believe that the prosecution rushed to judgment and the jury wrongfully convicted an innocent young man.

Romeo Killer: The Chris Porco Story (2013) Reviews
Could have been so much better
I live in the town where this happened, and while I understand that this is not meant to be a documentary, they portrayed him and the town very poorly. He was not a "Romeo" in any sense of the word, and they added story lines that did not make sense. But they did stay very true to the crime. The actual characters including Christopher Porco were very interesting, so I am disappointed that they did not stick closer to the truth. He is truly a sociopath, and I did not get a sense of that through the movie. An additional show that was shown following the meeting showing the true facts was very good. I was also not very impressed with the acting. I have always like Eric McCormick so I was disappointed in his performance.
Lover Boy Murderer: Romeo Killer ***1/2
This guy is something else. He has a thing going with a lot of girls, including the daughter of the detective investigating the case, who immediately believes that he killed his father and nearly did in his mother as well. Our guy is cool, calculating and anything but submissive. What he has going for him is that the mother was practically comatose when she shook her head when the detective mentioned her son as the killer. Of course, Lolita Davidovitch, who sacrificed her beauty, into that of a woman almost hacked to death, later comes to the aid of her son in court. Lolita does an excellent acting job here. Despite this doubt and others, our jury found Romeo guilty, as he claims innocence to this very day in court.
Awful
One of the worst dramatizations of a true story I have ever seen. Poor script, bad acting, actors, screenplay, etc. It was simply terrible. They took what could have been a great story and ruined it. I only give it a 1 because that was the lowest possible score. Frankly, it should not even get a score. Also, the choice to rewrite the story and fictionalize much of the facts was in my view just dumb. The true story was much better. It was just awful. Don't bother - waste of 2 hours. Watch the documentary that aired after instead. Some of the more interesting facts; such as the husband/wife defense lawyer team were omitted. The actor chosen to play Porco's lawyer was poor suited for the role and fell flat. It was just really, really bad.
Compelling Drama
This is a riveting film based on true events. A son is accused of murder/attempted murder of his parents and the movie had me engrossed from start to finish. Some of those close to the actual events claim the movie is a very poor depiction, but so far my research has not confirmed that as from what I learn the film is fairly true to what happened. I say that subject to further research and seeing a documentary which apparently gives a better perspective on events. In this movie the players are highly convincing especially the lead actor. The court room scenes are excellent and I am surprised there was not an acquittal as the lack of blood/forensic evidence was crucial and surely ought to have created reasonable doubt. 8/10
Good real life story except he's no Romeo IRL
People from around the world have seen this now and so many people must be disgusted that this is based on a real guy who decided to kill his parents for his own gain. I almost wasn't going to review it myself due to the slime factor, but figured he'd hate it if I did and I'm free due to not choosing to get rid of people who love me- so here I am. This movie wasn't totally based on his story because he was no romeo in the romantic sense of the word. More a trying to sweet talk people and pull the wool over their eyes kind of guy. He is so disconnected from reality that you can see it in his eyes. He looks like a kid who has been living on computer games and is unable to look people in the eyes with any clarity at all while asking 'why would I do that?" in response to most questions about the crime. Now that is no Romeo. I bet he tried though and wasn't successful like the smooth talking overly connected guy in the movie who women seemed to fall for so easily. As long as viewers do a little research for themselves and take the movie with a grain of salt if you get to see it, it's OK and brings awareness to these types of things that exist in our society thinking they're smarter than us. I wonder why he tried to get this movie cancelled from syndication for being fake when his whole life was fake so he shouldn't have had a problem with this. I saw it in 2013 with friends from overseas who all thought the real guy had nothing on the actor in the looks department either. So I guess it wasn't real after all in more ways than one.
