  This is perhaps the worst movie ever made in Serbia. Utter stupidity of lines, pointless directing, improbable story, cheap political agenda, and cheesy attempt on social comment, all wrapped up in the product which clearly caters to poorest taste. "Seljaci" is the decadent offspring of prolific maker of countryside movies, targeted to countryside dwellers in a need of a few laughs, and definitely not in a need of cinematic subtlety. Some of Lazic's works from the eighties bore the clear marks of inventiveness...IMHO, this is especially case with underestimated "Sekula i njegove zene" (1986), comedy of tempers which was conceived as yet another redneck fun, but born as flawed masterpiece. This is not the case with "Seljaci"...this thing is so poorly designed that it can hardy be called a movie.

  This movie is one of the better comedies that came up in Serbian scene during last 10 years or more. It is a little low budget but still good movie! This movie is one of the better comedies that came up in Serbian scene during last 10 years or more. Perhaps people from big cities like Blegrade do not like it because they do not understand the mentality of real village people in Serbia, and that is exactly what this movie shows - village people mentality in its true form! Also the atmosphere in the movie is unseen in these kind of movies. This movie is one of the better comedies that came up in Serbian scene during last 10 years or more.
