Shattered Hearts: A Moment of Truth Movie (1998) Reviews
Heart touching....
This movie was extremely heart touching & you will need a box of tissues to watch it. I myself lost my father almost a year ago to cancer & it really touched my heart in so many ways with the story line & the emotions everyone felt. I was blessed with the special gift of being with my daddy when he died & sadly it was in my arms that he did. I would highly recommend this movie to everyone just to let them know that if they have experienced this situation, that they are not alone & it is okay to feel these emotions & thoughts. It brought back a lot of feelings & emotions for myself & can very well understand the heartache & feeling of emptiness it leaves you. Take a moment after watching the movie to feel grateful for what you have in life & remember it can happen to you or someone you know. Take into consideration that life is short & enjoy it day by day. If you happen to know someone who is terminally ill with this or any other kind of disease, make time for them & offer your support along with your sympathy & they will accept it with open arms. You will be surprised on how they respond.
From a prolific novelist of teen books
Even though this apparently is not a movie produced by Lifetime, "A Champion's Fight" has Lifetime written all over it. It's based on a Lurlene McDaniel story of two teenagers in love, but the young man has cancer. McDaniel has written many novels for teens, often with a spiritual theme. I can really see this film appealing to a young crowd, as it was intended. It's very sports-oriented - the boy, Luke, is the star quarterback at the high school. Beth Broderick plays the girl's mom, and she's always good, conveying an attorney's sophistication and later, compassion and support. Adrienne Barbeau is Luke's mom. The story is poignant and also predictable. There really isn't anything exceptional about it, except Barbeau's problems with her employer. Given all that, I cried like a baby and hated myself.
A great movie
When I saw that a made for TV movie was on I decided to tape it. Little did I know that this movie would mean so much to me and make me think so much about my life and how precious it is. It was a fantastic movie and taught me a lot about courage and how to deal with tough situations. I loved it!
Very inspiring movie.
SPOILER I have to say this movie inspired me so much. Although in the end Luke does die of complications due to his battle with cancer this movies showed me so much. It showed me that love can with stand hard times and that love is what keeps you happy when things aren't so good. It let me believe that there are some high school relationships out there that are alot more than just about sex, that you can have a very loving and complete relationship at such a vulnerable time in your life. It also showed me through Luke's struggle with the cancer that grew as a person and although he got angry at times he knew he did nothing wrong to get this cancer and God wasn't punishing him. This movie shows how two families and friends at school feel when someone they love is hurting, its shows how people come together in times of need. I would recommend this movie to anyone, especially those dealing with similar situations. I know this movie has opened my eyes to see things not for what I expect them to be but for what they really are meant to be, Luke and Julie's relationship had the kind of love you only feel once in an entire lifetime, it proved that although you loose that love it may hurt its okay to move on.
Pretty good movie with a very good cast
***warning - spoilers*** It's to bad that this movie is so predictable because it has alot of good things except for that. The cast it great, especially Beth Broderick (Patricia Ellis), Adrienne Barbeau (Nancy) and Scott Vickaryous (Luke). Beth Broderick plays Patricia. She is a lawyer and the mother to Julie (Katie Gratson), who's boyfriend Luke has cancer. At first Broderick's character seem to be really harch and a little unfair and only seem to care about that her daughter get into a nice college but after a while we'll see that she is really a strong and caring person that has to fight both for her daughter and for Luke's mother Nancy. This movie is also sad and the last scene between Patricia and Julie is very touching. It's one of my favourite scenes and the one where Patricia tells Julie that even though she miss Luke she need to get on with her life and be strong. I also liked the scene when Patricia went to Nancy's boss and demended that Nancy would get her job back. I liked the strenght that she was showing and that she really fought for what was right. Anyway, as I said, there is to bad that the movie is so predictable. Since Luke survives the cancer early in the movie, we understand that the cancer will come back later on, and that he then probably won't win over the cancer again. Except for that, I really liked this movie.
