St. Roz (2010) Reviews
THE POOR AND FAT WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US
Minnie Barr (Victoria Snow) runs a successful weight loss clinic and franchise from Hamilton, Canada. She has two daughters. There is the married Sharon (Michelle Nolden) who has no trouble with weight and Judy (Rachel Wilson) who has a few extra pounds. A magical statue arrives at the local parish which has the ability to cause weight lost for those who light a candle. It isn't long before women around the world and lining up and the church is rolling in money. However the $40 billion dollar weight lost industry which employs countless numbers of people is in jeopardy. Judy has been using the statue to lose weight while mom must cut losses. The film attempts to be funny, but is at best humorous. It is what one would expect from an indie production. Quirky, but not hard hitting with followers among those who love a lesser God. F-bomb. No sex or nudity.
Surprisingly funny and clever film
We saw this film at the Temecula Valley Film Festival and really enjoyed it. Didn't know what to expect but was surprised to find everyone in the family loved it. clever writing, some hilarious lines and well thought out script. The music score was perfect for the scenes and the opening animation set the tone for a truly entertaining film. This film will be the jewel of this years film festival and we wish them all the best in getting this film out to more folks. Everyone will like it. We met Colin Doyle (Father William) and Jayne Eastwood ( Mrs P) after the screening and they were both funny and glad to hear from the real fans that their film was a resounding success. Bravo !
