The Evil One (2005) Reviews
Biggest waste of time award
The acting, dialog, plot, camera work, audio, and pace of this movie was about the worst I have ever seen. With the exception of a few characters the acting was so bad it was comical. I think they only had 3 cameras that were locked into place which made it boring. The audio is distorted in parts and clean in others, mainly when in the insane asylum. The dialog was so bad, it was a relief that you couldn't understand the words. The pace of the movie was so slow, it was almost 2 hours, 10 minutes would have done this movie better. I don't think this movie should be rented unless you want to laugh, because it is not scary
Great Ghost Story
I rented this from Blockbuster and didn't really know of the movie or of the company that made the film. I was hoping in would be good. You just never know with films you have never heard of before. It was good.It was a good ghost story! The insane asylum was freaky! The girl that was screaming was really eerie! It gave me the chills!I am a big horror film fan and didn't have very high expectations. I am more impressed than I thought I would be. Rent this one as you wont be disappointed. I wouldn't buy it but I'm going to rent more unknown horror films from Creep FX. Ill keep you all posted on my next horror film.
Indie serial killer dud
THE EVIL ONE is a shot on video indie thriller about a Chicago neighbourhood that's haunted by the handiwork of a vicious serial killer. Is he the reincarnation of a 19th century murderer? The question is whether anyone would care on the strength of this amateur effort, and the answer's a resounding "no!". This blaxploitation-feel story is cheap and dull, with a camera that manages to miss all of the action and rock bottom production values.
"Manos: the Hands of Fate" is a masterpiece compared to this...
When you consider the subject of this film is the ghost of serial killer H.H. Holmes you'd think they'd have found something cool to do with the material. What they did is fail...miserably...to produce anything resembling a watchable film. I never want to hear another bad word about Ed Wood after watching this 2 hour plus waste of time. The one redeeming part of the film is Candace Carey who, at least, is easy to look at. Too bad this probably ruined her career forever. The guy playing Holmes was effectively creepy as well. Overall though, I can't stress enough just how far away from this film you should stay. I once considered "Shadow: Dead Riot" the worst film I'd ever seen but "The Evil One" wins in a landslide.
