The Final Shift (2012) Reviews
A Science Fiction Thriller with a brain - spoiler alert
A movie about a pair of shape shifting assassin clones, this movie examines the debate between nature vs. nurture and the nature of identity (between chases, fights, killings and general mayhem of course). Not many big budget films tackle these themes with any degree of success but this one does - and it works. It is a low budget movie and that shows. You might sometimes wish they'd looped the dialog more often or had even 1/10 the special effects budget of a 'Fast 'N Furious' series film but the acting is generally good and the ideas presented more than make up for any problems.
Fun Female Assassins
If you like the female assassin genre in the tradition of Hanna, La Femme Nikita, Aeon Flux, Elektra - the list goes on and on - and if you like them you'll enjoy The Final Shift. Margot, a beautiful young genetically engineered killer, teams up with an aging hit man and mayhem ensues. There's a bit of tongue-in-cheek about the whole process especially the sci-fi underpinnings of the story and the family relationships are a hoot. They'll make you realize your own family just ain't that bad. No spoilers here but I will there are a lot of laughs mixed in with shootings, fistfights, explosions and whatnot. Not a bad way to spend a few hours on a Saturday night if you have the chance.
I liked the film
I liked the film. The storyline was interesting. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I liked the camera work. The music and acting was good too. This is definitely a good sci-fi/action indie film. I find these type of films interesting. It is obviously not a high budget movie so if you are expecting elaborate sets and great special effects, look elsewhere. But If you like sci-fi/action independent movies, gorgeous women, action/fight scenes, definitely check this one out. My Favorite character was Margot because I like string female characters. The actual movie is pretty good and I would give this 7 stars.
