  • Was a great treat for the teens

    vinoth_raj2015-12-22

Trisha Illana Nayanthara is coming age teen cult adult comedy film. Such a long genre? Credits goes to GV Prakask and blood débutant director Adhik. It was a bold portraying a raw story of what's happening in teen world. Great attempt and applauding performance by the casts. Peppy songs lifted the story mood well with colorful choreography and catch lyrics. Guests appearance was surprising though. Ramya's character was an important one while Aditi was a bit of lacking in acting. VTV Ganesh made the flow more interesting and Simran made poorly judge-mental role. The childhood scene was boring though but later time the beat start rising. GV Prakash again proved he is an talented star in Kolloywood industry. Foot tapping song too astonishing acting made this movie a special to watch for this lad. Good attempt but should have done some corrections in editing .

  • Misleading and Over-hyped Adult Comedy

    adithyasivas-234-4717682015-11-24

**This review does not contain spoilers** First off, let me get a few things straight. I did NOT watch this movie with any great expectations. And I didn't try to nitpick that much. I was ready to accept anything which happens in this movie because I knew this movie would be filled with many slapstick comedy sequences with satire and black comedy. But this movie eventually adds up to none of the aforementioned categories. I have to definitely accept that there are stupendously funny sequences here and there. Anandhi's dub syncing is also commendable and kudos to her. But, ultimately this movie adds up to nothing. At one point you think this is a satire, and at another you think that this movie is a Adam Sandler-like movie. There really isn't any message. The storyline of this movie is so very simple that I can sum it up in a couple of sentences: 1. Boy meets two girls. 2. Boy has feelings for both the girls, but chooses the readily available one. 3. Boy and girl break up. 4. Boy gets into a relationship with the second girl. 5. Boy ultimately breaks up with the second girl and gets back with first girl only to break up with her again. 6. The end. I'm not nitpicking. Another problem with this movie is that it is filled with sexist lines. The main character in the movie wants his girlfriend to be a virgin. And he feels that she shouldn't drink, at all. I guess it was intended to be comedic, but it just is plainly sexist. Nothing less. Of course, it is also filled with many sexual references many of which you can find in Boys which came out in 2003. Speaking of Boys (2003) the main reason why that movie worked perfectly and this doesn't is because TIN tries so hard to be catering to the young guys of today that it soaks itself into nothing. It seems like they've made this movie just to get an 'A' (adult) rating, so that they can attract the youth. Boys (2003) works and it was rated U/A and was also filled with many double-meaning dialogs and many references. G.V. Prakash, no doubt, shines, given that its only the second movie in which he's acted. Other than a comedic chemistry between VTV Ganesh and G.V. Prakash, and a couple of other scenes, this movie just tries to miserably emulate Boys (2003). You can watch this movie, but just don't expect any impactive social message, or something different, because you'd be very much disappointed. Just enjoy the two hours of runtime with a vastly open mind. If you're looking for something about the youth, with adult humour, and social messages, watch Boys (2003) instead.

  • "An Imprudent Coming-Of-Age Adult Comedy That Couldn't Justify Its Genre"

    afsalthodupuzha2015-09-22

Labelled as the boldest Tamil film to date, debutant Adhik Ravichandran's 'Trisha Illana Nayanthara' is a half-baked attempt for exploiting the still underdeveloped adult-comedy genre in Tollywood mixing up some crude references and few daring sequences inside a template that's clichéd and old-school. I wonder why the censors gave this film an 'A' when the so called bold sequences are so mainstream these days. There are some never-before seen adventurous sequences in the movie, but that's far and few in the narration that extends to around 150 minutes. The question that arise here is,Now that you are aiming at the certificate, why go so reserved? One cannot deny the fact that Bollywood adult-comedies like Grand Masti and Kya Kool Hain Hum have exploited the genre way better giving full credits to the stamp that they had stick on to. The abundance of misogynistic dialogs may find its takers in the youth of today, but a more convincing screenplay could have acted as a mirror towards the present generation that's more interested in Love induced by hormones rather than heart. Some hilarious one-liners like "Virgin Pasanga Saapam ungale Summa Vidaathu" were good. The subplot involving Simran was totally lackluster and avoidable. Music director turned actor G.V.Prakashkumar was good as a typical Tamil lad 'Jeeva' who is desperately in search for 'the one'.Anandhi was the pick among the cast and gave yet another notable performance as Remya.Manisha Yadav was okayish whereas Simran was wasted in a poorly written role.VTV Ganesh couldn't score much with his lines except for the "Dinosaur dialogue'.The surprise cameos were interesting. The peppy songs by G.V.P lifted the mood with its energetic vocals and colorful choreography. The melodious duet "Yennaachu Yedhaachu" came out really well on screen.Edits by Anthony.L.Ruben and visuals by Richard.M.Nathan were fine. Overall,Trisha Illana Nayanthara is lazy attempt that could have been treated much better.

  • Trisha Illana Nayanthara Review : If not GV, then no one indeed!

    Prashast_Singh2016-01-22

Movie : Trisha Illana Nayanthara Rating: 3/5 I don't like watching adult comedies, as they are not good to watch either with family or even alone, in my opinion. Then you might be thinking what would have made me watch this film TRISHA ILLANA NAYANTHARA, which is rated 'A' in India. Actually, I saw the UA rated trailer and found it impressive. Besides, when I came to know that in India it has an A certificate, while in other countries, it's rated 12A, PG 13 etc, which allows young viewers to watch it. So, I decided to confirm whether it was really such a film or not, and also because, I have turned 18. Believe me, I watched the film, and upon watching I felt that the Censor Board has given a wrong certificate to the film. The things considered only for adults is nowadays very common even in the 'U' rated films. Means, the film's humor is neither crude nor vulgar. The film is entertaining as it sounds, and a good youth entertainer as well. TRISHA ILLANA NAYANTHARA is a film in which GV Prakash Kumar's character shows us the symptoms of the youth, when they come of age. The film includes his adventures, his stories, that don't have just comedy and tragedy, but also some emotions. GV acts so well, that you completely get connected with the character. You start feeling for him at times. The heroines do their respective parts well. The other cast also perfectly adds masala to the humor content of the film. Coming to the script, I need to say that the writer has chosen a good subject, and has dealt with it in a comic, means nice, way. Director Adhik needs to be applauded for clearly bringing out the true image of the youth on screen. The editing of the film is razor sharp. The visual work is also good. The song 'Bittu Padam Di' might offend a few people for its first title word, but of course, this song has good beats enough to make you tap your feet. Coming to the comedy, it's not as adult or crude as promoted, I thank the makers, and also God. The funny scenes are simply a plus point of the film. However, despite of so many things being good, there are a few things that needed to be taken care of. The intention of the makers to make a film for youth is commendable, but making it with an 'A' certificate is something I didn't find good at all. The film is not crude or adult type at all. I agree there are some very mild innuendos, but they are not very intense for young viewers, if they watch it with parental guidance. Besides, a few songs could have been cut short, or simply chopped off. The Dakalti song is necessary to retain, I understand, and same for Bittu Padam Di, but I don't feel the same for all. But despite of all these negatives, the film is an entertainer anyway. Overall, TRISHA ILLANA NAYANTHARA is a good comedy film that is even good if the youth watches it. The best man I liked in the entire film was GV Prakash Kumar. You can watch the film of course if you like romantic comedy films where the youth is centered. But don't watch it as an adult film. If you can ignore the flaws, then also ignore the 'A' certificate.
