Generic but still entertaining...
There is just something interesting about the alien invader movies, but more than often such movies happen to be made on a low budget. And while "Drone Wars" were indeed on a low budget, it was actually a surprisingly nice movie for what it turned out to be. Now, don't jump on the horses just yet, I am not saying that it is a fantastic movie, merely that it was watchable and entertaining enough for what it was given its limitations. While "Drone Wars" hardly can be described as being innovative or revolutionary, then it does make fair use of an already well-enough established concept idea. The special effects in the movie were adequate, though you shouldn't set yourself up for something spectacular. I have seen much better CGI effects in other Sci-Fi movies, just as I have seen much worse. So on that account, "Drone Wars" were doing adequately. The effects were there, and they served their purpose well enough, just don't expect a myriad of bedazzling CGI effects. Now, you might be a bit hesitant about the movie given it stars Corin Nemec, and given his track record of movies, who can blame you? But don't write him off just yet, because this was actually one of his better movies, and he did perform quite well here. And most of the movie was centered on him, so he is in focus a lot throughout the course of the movie, and he managed to carry the movie quite well. While "Drone Wars" did indeed a generic movie, it still had some entertaining aspects to it and some good moments. So if you enjoy the Sci-Fi genre, and is looking for a light Sci-Fi movie, then "Drone Wars" could perhaps be well enough worth watching.
No No No No No. Don't do it. There are only 2 reasons to watch this
There are only 2 reasons to watch this movie, Whitney Moore, and Verona Blue. Otherwise, this movie is a total pass, a Dog with Fleas, a Hot Babe with massive STD's. Poor acting, erratic plot, Low Budget of Low Budget SFX. These Low Budget Alien Invader movies are usually KIND OF Fun. This one is just painful to watch. It's like something the Crusty SyFy channel would only air at like 2am. Given the choice of watching this movie or hitting yourself over the head with a 2x4....... Take the 2x4 beating, Trust Me. You have been Warned.
Stopped watching after 10min
The awful CGI was bad enough. But then they scan the layout of a weapon with... a soldering iron ! And of course it reveals the complete contents of the weapon, what it does, etc. Either this movie is created by total idiots, or for total idiots. Either way, not worth watching at all.
It's average - not terrible
Now c'mon reviewers, you can't go around calling every movie that isn't spectacular 'the worst movie ever made'. You don't leave yourself anywhere to go when the truly crappy ones pop up. DRONE WARS is definitely a pretty average movie. But you can see that people who cared about their craft put it together; throwing money, time and their reputations at the project to give it life. That has to count for something. Some of the scenes were pretty badly laid out but the CGI really wasn't that terrible. The acting was convincing enough most of the time and the story kept moving. (For the person who commented on the ridiculous use of a soldering iron as a diagnostic tool - I suspect they were going to CGI something over the top of this and just forgot. Made me laugh anyway.) Giving one star should really be left to the movies with rambling or non-existent plots, appalling wooden or over-acting, shitty production values and made-to-fill-a-genre-hole garbage. DRONE WARS does not meet those criteria in my opinion. Watch it if you can't sleep or need something on while you're rebuilding an engine in the lounge room, or waiting for the oven cleaner to work its magic. Nothing special. Very average.
not a bad movie AT ALL!
it's not citizen kane, but a decent alien invasion movie...it's primarily a guy movie...lots of weapons and fighting...made from a male warrior point of view.... decent acting--the lead actor is a very experienced actor who had the lead in a TV series some years ago... good production values...a simple, straightforward story line...definitely worth a watch... it's low budget, but with current computer graphics tech, almost anything is possible...
